I love see these in color--the little book I have of 1940s Sears Catalog images is just in b&w, and obviously is only a tiny selection. Must resist trying to acquire old catalogs...
Catalogs are my absolute favourite because they are the final stop of the "trickle down" process of fashion - by the time a trend makes it into a catalog, it's been watered down to such an extent that it becomes acceptable to the average consumer, and it really shows what Real People were willing to spend their money on.
