Two-Tone Blouse Progress.

Last night I went to my holiday party and I was so happy I wore the stockings.

They matched great! And my shoes were not stained. Yay!

Onto other things.
I finally got off my butt and finished the sewing of the two tone blouse. I added the cuffs and pressed everything up nice and pretty. Now comes the fun part, choosing the buttons.

I don't know if I've ever shown you all this, but here is my button box.

Some people collect fabric, others sewing machines (wink, wink), me,
it's buttons, and I have a lot.

I wanted to see if I had any chartreuse buttons I could use that would accent that color I have in the fabric. I didn't have very many that could pass,
but I had a couple versions of it.

I'm leaning toward the set in the upper right because they will make the leaves in the fabric pop. Also, they are a good size and there is enough of them for the front of the blouse and the cuffs.

I'll be finished with it today and then I think it's day projects for the rest of the year. Perhaps another blouse, then day projects.

Yay sewing!

  1. I have a button tin. I have way too many plain white buttons, though. Yawn.

Worse, I don't feel like I can justify looking for other, cooler, buttons until I use up some of those plain white buttons.

  2. WOW that's an awesome button box!!!! I recently organized my fabric collection so my husband would stop griping about random feedsacks all over the house and I have been desperately trying to avoid the itch of adding button to my favorite things....

  3. The button box is not for the faint of heart. I've had a few friends attempt to go through it and get rightly overwhelmed to the point of exhaustion. :)

You should have seen my reject box, it was about half this size.

I limit my button collecting to buttons on cards. It's easier for dating and I don't have to go though tins of old moldy buttons, yuck!

  4. You look so cute and sassy in the photo! As for buttons--why is it when I need x number of buttons for a project, my button box(es) only yield x-1? Oh, and I agree about your choice for the blouse--the green really makes the print come alive. Merry Christmas!

  5. My Mom has a very old tin full of old buttons. I loved it as a kid, just trying to match the buttons. I would have a hay day in your button box!! Awesome!!!

  7. Wow, that's quite a collection of buttons! I've got my collection stored in a couple of old Christmas tins.

The blouse looks lovely. What a great use for a beautiful remnant. I'm inspired and now won't be so hasty passing up remnants I see in thrift stores.
