It seems that 1) plus sized clothing from bygone eras closely matched the straight size styles, 2) even casual/work clothes/housecoats--my mother still calls them that--had a sense of style, and 3)foundation garments have come a long way. Also, when I see these vintage ads, I always wonder why the plus size models have these round child-like faces? Did they really think all stout women looked like this? :) Just asking...
That cherub look to women was real popular during the time. Thing Shirley Temple and such. IT was sweet, innocent, and child like, like women should be. Beauty styles of models always went through phases.
As for the styles, Lane Bryant's main claim was to make large styles the same as their smaller counterparts. Why should you suffer fashion just because of your size. Too bad that since of obligation faded later when your size was tagged to your age more so than in the past.
am wondering if you ever come across gloves for ladies with larger hands. or perhaps a pattern for them.. the only patterns i can find might fit my 6yr old!!
Outstanding!! Brilliant!! I'd dress like that today! Especially in the breathtakingly lovely coats.
