Hello lovely people.
Because I stay home so much I tend to sit around the house in my lounge gear. Cotton flannel pants and sometimes matching jackets/shirts because they are comfortable and appropriate enough if I need to walk the pooch down the block for walkies.
Well, it's been two years since I've made any new pants at all, and I do mean all of my old ones are thread bear and tearing, so I had to chuck them.
Because I'm doing this MnM on the frugal, I looked through my stash to see what I have to make the comfy clothes with. For some odd reason, most of my loungeable fabric is a plaid. That's weird, right?
Don't mind the head. She's from a project I did for someone (I plan on posting it when I get the all clear). That's one reason my posts have been sparse, some of the projects I've been working on have been on the down low. But I digress.
Because I haven't sewn for myself in some time, I wanted to make this MnM about something quick, relevant to my life now, and easy to care for. Loungewear. With winter coming (even for California), I need some stylish warm clothes to cuddle in with my puppy and watch TV. That's a good plan, right?
So, looking through my stash I found these fabrics. The maroon cotton flannel I once made jimjam pants with before. They lasted 4 years. That's a pretty good run.
The other plaids are remnants from other older projects that I think are too much for garments but good and tacky enough to make something to sleep in.
It's the seersucker plaid I'm on the fence about. It's vintage fabric and I really don't see myself making any dress from it plus I have enough to make something cool without it looking like some sort of hospital gown. If I do some solid pieces like at the cuffs of the legs then I think it can work.
What do you all think, should I use it?

I like the seersucker, maybe with some piping and coordinating cuffs--it could work. Loungewear is something I usually never think of making now you have planted the thought. :)
ReplyDeleteSeersucker is not cuddly enough for me, but there's something about a wonky plaid that is sweet for sleeping.
ReplyDeleteExperiencing vintage pattern fail and sadly, used the cozy animal sheets to this end. Sad! Will regroup - there's always wonky flannel around here somewhere.
