Vintageville #49

  1. Holy smoke, I love your blog and in particular Vintageville. Maybe you should think about turning it into a vintage sewing book with patterns in the back. People could read the story and make the outfits. I know a lot of people who are into vintage are plus size, and most vintage patterns are too tiny for me at a modern size 14. Books with patterns by Gertie and also new books like "The Little Black Dress" seem to by selling well. Just a thought.

  2. And you should get on InstaGram, if you're not already. A lot of Etsy people are showing vintage wares there. My IG account has followers from the vintage, sewing, and pinup worlds, where there's a lot of overlap. Lots of African-American sewing enthusiasts sharing on IG as well. (P.S. One of the reasons I started blogging is that the people in my life got tired of my unsolicited advice...)

  3. Ugh. I have Facebook, twitter, pinterest, a blog, and a website. I think if I have to do one more social media portal Ill scream :) But, I do know what you are saying. I ask that you share the comic on your portals as well. Readers have to spread the love too. Gertie didn't get to where she was unless her readers shared her work. It's a two way street.

  4. I hear you. I'll give you a shoutout when I can. I'm finding that I get a lot more action on IG than Twitter or Facebook, so I concentrate on that. Also, I learned about your blog on a newly created Facebook page called "We Sew Retro Show and Tell," so you may want to join that page and post some of your work.
