Pages on blog to come...(or not)

Look everybody, I made an outfit!

I made this outfit for the Vegan Oktober fest this past weekend and it was a big hit. I got a lot of compliments on it. The skirt is dyed red, with a vintage border I got at a yard sale a couple of years ago. The skirt is made from my trusty wrap dress pattern, I just closed the front.

The skirt has a slight ruffle but I didn't dye enough fabric to make the ruffle fuller. But hey, it worked :)

I even finished it early, but realized I didn't have a blouse to wear with it, so I whipped up this white one made from, you guessed it, my trusty old wrap dress pattern. I tell you, I'll never get tired of that pattern.

Clean solid color blouse. Boy, does my wardrobe need these!

I don't know WHY I didn't pull down the back! Silly me!
The sash came out nice, too.

It fit really well and the skirt has great swing for dancing. I was afraid the cotton would be too stiff, but I think the longer length helped. I'm sorry I don't have any pictures of me in the outfit. I really, REALLY, gotta get better at that.

The event was fun, and I had a lot of beer. You can read more about it here.
It felt good to sew for myself again. It's been a while. I really want to make more blouses. I really need them. Okay, back to sewing for others now! Just boring stuff. No real Playclothes treasures until after Halloween.

I'll keep you updated!

  1. Great outfit! Looks like it would be fun to dance in. I wish I lived in place that had a vegan or vegetarian any-kind-of-fest. That would be awesome! All the best, Shelley!

  3. Love that red skirt! The vintage border really makes it look festive. Getting a lot of mileage out of a favorite pattern is the way to go. Some sewists call them T-N-T (tried and true) patterns.

  4. Basics are harder than mending for me. I will tear apart and rebuild a pair of jeans before I can stitch up a plain blouse. And maybe I'll recaulk the bathtub...
(sweet ensemble. Beer, donuts, many vegan options in my 'hood)
