Dressing Movie Monsters

Hello lovely people.

I hope your week is going well. Mine is a slow slog of writing, drawing and sewing. I'm at various stages of either so it all feels as if it's taking forever to finish anything, and that makes everything seem so far away. As I continue on, I realized I didn't show you all the images of the movie monster wardrobes I've been working on.

It's a collaborative project. I get images if the clothes that need to be made, a model for them to be fit to, then they are taken and 'dressed' and presto, movie monster of your very own.

Reference image.
I've done clothes in various ways for Frankenstein and a Dracula.
One Frank I did was a modification of an old thrift store jacket.

Brasco was curious. Onda and Ned were indifferent.
I cut the jacket open in the back in order to get it on this HUGE mannequin that was in my home for about a week. Oh, how I love LA. No one bats an eye when you and another person are carrying a huge footed mannequin into your apartment building.

I stitched the jacket to Frank so it would create that pull at the front because the jacket was supposed to be too small for him.

I made a pattern piece for the back, sort of an hourglass and sewed it to the back of the jacket.

He also required special pants that could be zipped onto the form. Oh, I do love problem solving!
Dracula is a standard size, so I got to use Ned for that.
I made the cape (which was a feat in and of itself), and the vest, from scratch.

The cool thing is I get to see the final produce here! Go Frank!

I'm more likely going to be dressing more Franks as they come, but I'll be making patterns of the clothes and just making them that way instead of mods from clothing finds.

Hehehee! Okay have a great Wednesday!

Okay...lets move onto blouses.

Hello lovely people.

I'm off my game. I don't know what it is, if its stress or not, but my sewing is not at my usual standards.
Damn dresses.

Simplicity 3701, Take Two

Good morning lovely people.

Where am I gonna sit?
I decided to get off my arse and take another crack at this Simplicity pattern. I know a lot of people find it hard to rework a failed attempt. I'm totally one of them, but I really like this pattern and seeing as how my mock up fit so well, I decided after a few alterations I'm good to go.

Simplicity 3701 set back

Good morning lovely people.
I spent yesterday straightening up and mending a couple of things.
Brian ripped my shirred pillowcase so I patched it up.

Flea Market Find: I bought luggage!

Hello lovely people!

I call this one, 'The Thinker'.
Yesterday on a whim and very early in the morning after 5 hours of beer drinking, I went to the the Pasadena Flea Market with some friends. It's a very large flea market that takes place once a month at the city college. They take over two parking lots and two levels of a parking garage. It's filled with all sorts of stuff from records to toys to vintage stuff to housewares. You name it, and its most likely there.

Simplicity 3701 progress

Hello lovely people.
Things have been all over the place for me this past month. I've been hanging out with a new friend and getting to know her and drinking lots of mimosas (long story), I've been doing a lot more drawing and finishing up Vintageville stuff (I added a new completed drawing to my FB page), I've been writing a lot, doing some freelance, and generally detaching.

It's been a boring week.
