I love buttons. Im not making light of that. Most people who know me know I LOVE vintage buttons. Its an obsession. I have them in all materials, colors, and shapes. I do prefer buttons on cards, as they are easier to date. Most of my collection is on cards. Here are the ones (about a 5th of my collection) I have on NVL. There are about 30 pages of buttons.
Here are some I have shadow boxed.
My 20s box. There are some 30s cards in there too.
I have a strange obsession with Pilchers buttons. Ive followed their emergence in the 1910s to their mass marketing and multiple buy up through the 50s.
These are my 40s buttons. Ive also got some novelty buttons in there.
Here are some acquisitions, in no particular order.
I have a modest collection of men smoking on button cards. Cigarettes, pipes, etc. I have eight different cards now, and always on the look out for more!
Yay buttons!
Wow! I was just looking for some vintage buttons today and I can see how addictive they are :-) thanks for the links...it's nice to be able to see different styles from different decades!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI removed my last comment because of silly spelling mistakes!
I love your collection, especially the wine coloured grape one is it glass, and i like the pearl one with the lady images.
Fabulous
The grapes are 40s plastic. Ive seen them in many colors, even green. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAHHH! I LOVE buttons too. Its the only thing I buy impulsively and without a project in mind. Vintage especially when I find nice ones. I have to say I am particularly fond of plain shirt and uniform buttons and suspender buttons. The fancy ones are nice too but the plain ones ...je ne sais quoi!
ReplyDeleteI KNOW! I LOVE PLAIN BUTTONS TOO! LOVE them!
ReplyDeleteSo underrated. THeir plain ascetic is beautiful. I have tons, and often skip novelty buttons because, I mean, what are you gonna use them on!
