Hello lovely people.
Oh, has it been a year.
We all know that, so let's all stay safe, and be careful.
When I'm stressed, as I have ben mostly all year, I like to craft to ease my mind.
I'd wanted to replace a cheap wreath I've put on my front door for over 3 years. Previously, I've done a felt pumpkin for halloween, and a protesting turkey for Thanksgiving
I bought a cool felt garland, and thought it would make a great Christmas wreath. Not sure how I made that connection, but I did. Then it occurred to me, how can I add more felt, because more felt is always better. Oh! And hot glue, too! You can't be mad at extra hot glue, unless it burns you, which it did to me, but I overcame my anger fast because crafting is love.
I did a rare trip with a friend to Michael's and got a particle board circle, a cheap red bow, and that felt ball tree garland.
Then I went to my felt collection (because every good crafter has one), and matched as well as I could the colors to the felt balls.
Then I assembled.
Next, I wrapped the particle board circle with white cotton bias tape, then after I tested an arrangement, I hot glued the circles to the wreath, and hot glued a bias strip to the back so I could hang the wreath on a door.
I love it and had no idea that the bow would fit so perfectly over the peephole of my front door.
Even the color of the door looks lovely with the colors of the wreath.
It was days later, and after I'd allowed the delight of the wreath to settle down in my heart, I looked at my box and saw I had a crap ton of the little felt balls left.
It was time to get out my little vintage tree and its little vintage glass ornaments. I looked at my sparse three and thought, "How can I make it extra"? By adding the garland when it was meant to be.
With some glass beads and some thread, I re-garland-ed the garland.
I grabbed a PNG from online and adjusted the sizing in photoshop to print out a template. Then I got out my felt and picked all the glittery goodness.
Hope you all are doing lovely and staying safe.
More soon. Thanks!
PS: I'm working on adding some of my videos to my YouTube channel and I'd like to reach a certain number of subscribers so I can make changed to that channel.

Not much on it now, but I got some sewing videos recorded. If you're interested, please subscribe.
Thanks!
I love it! So cute!
ReplyDeleteWonderful wreath, so colorful and the tree is delightful too.
ReplyDeleteLovely as always!
ReplyDeleteThat tree is beautiful (it's all garland!), so is the wreath. As much as I feel that felt is the natural enemy of scissors, my most treasured ornaments are the felt ones my Not Crafty Mother made from some ladies magazine pattern (birds and bells and trees and an angel). Christmas is made of felt for me.
ReplyDeleteI hope hope hope the new year is kind to you and them and me and those people over there. Always all the best for you.
