Perhaps that's why I find these hook & eyes so amazing. The range of styles and sizes and uses. The large ones I'm sure were used for fur, or looped over with thread and used for coats. The small ones delicate enough for sheer silk numbers of infant clothes.
Here is a small sample of my hook & eye collection. What? Surprised I have one? Oh, then you all don't know me by now :)
These are the coat hooks. They are HUGE!
These are brass and unfinished with a paint or anything. they are also flat and not round wire.
Heart Eyes. Look closely...
I wonder how long it took them to make those.
I also have several cards of vintage hooks. I always hesitate to use them as their presentation is so lovely that I don't want to ruin it!
ReplyDeleteWow. Do you ever grab them to use in a project? Thanks for pointing out the Heart Eyes, I'm a sucker for details, too.
ReplyDeletethat's a neat collection...
ReplyDeleteuntil you see them altogether
you don't realize there are so many types!
love the clothes of the '40s =)

Thanks you all.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to use them a lot more, Steph. I think I like the minimal intrusiveness of a properly placed hook & eye over a button hole.
Dear Shelly or someone, The first photo on this blog shows three coat hooks displayed across a quarter. I need one hook, black, the curved part approx. 3/8 inch long and a little flat. One of these hooks should do. Can you or someone send me one? I would appreciate it, as I can not find one locally or on the internet. Thanks, Gary Fox e-mail foxgary5@gmail.com
