I have started on my first dress for my dust bowl look. I'm finally getting around to making the rayon flowered evening gown from my flutter sleeve reproduction pattern.
Today I'm planning a trip to the fabric district to get some accent fabrics for trim and collars, then I'm going to take my shoes to the cobbler then at 7pm I have a dance lesson. SO excited!

Shelley, you may have covered this in an earlier post, but you could say a word about how you prep rayon? Do you let it hang or launder it first? My experience has been that it looses shape very easily (stretches). Thanks!

ReplyDeletePeter, I always pre wash my fabric. I tend to launder my cottons on warm and tumble dry, wools I wash cold, hang to dry, rayons I wash warm, hang to dry. Steam iron all (using a pressing cloth) as needed.
ReplyDeleteThe only rayon I've ever had with some stretch was a rayon crepe, and that was minimal. it has a very nice buoyancy, so it goes back into to shape pretty easily. Are you sure you don't have a blend of some kind?
