Actually the hats were that easy. Okay, not 'easy' but because I made the pattern and I've made the hats before, I kinda knew where the mistakes were.
I'm very pleased with the WWI hat. This time it's in blue linen. Mmmm.
I may have made it about an inch too tall from the original and me being a stickler for authenticity (I guess), that makes me not like it as much. Again, if I had tweaked my pattern more, I would not of had to remember that mental note, but I didn't.
Aw well. It came together real well and now I know where to adjust the patter for better lay out and fit.
My dust bowl hat is also better it's second time around.
I used the same navy linen I did for he other hat and I have to say, I really like this one. I tweaked the pleats on the side and I love the way they lay against that gathered wedge. So slick and cool. Once my hair has returned to non voluminous levels I'll sport this hat with pride.
I like hats and accessories. They are often quick and rather key to getting a good look. Sure, you can have that great dress, but the right hat or shoes can just complete the look. Delicious.
I'm gonna take a stab at some collars next. Got my pattern all on the ready. I think I'll make a basic dress and see how many looks I can get out of it with a few collars.
Stay tuned and happy Saturday!
I love, love, love the WW1 hat! I wish I could wear hats, but they are just not "me", which is sad because I really like them. I bet both of them are cute on you, LD!
ReplyDeleteI have been searching high and low for a pattern just like this - this is the style of garrison cap that I like the most. I am also a sewing novice, so I would like to avoid the piping if at all possible - and this looks pretty simple. Could you be persuaded into posting your pattern for this?
ReplyDeleteDo you have a pattern for the garrison hat? It's impossible to find one online and yours is lovely!
