Good morning everyone.
I have had a super busy weekend, and another busy week. It's been planned since the weekend: Monday, dancing. Tuesday, laundry. Wednesday, dancing. Thursday LACMA (museum of art). Friday, packing. Saturday, packing and dancing. Even Sunday is full. Whew!
Oh, I don't know if I posted this, but here is a photo of my new apartment building.
Okay, back to the fabric.
This past weekend when I went out fabric shopping with my friends, I got tons of fabric, all averaging about $7 a yard.
A wool crepe that was 'damaged' because the nap of the fabric was speckled. Got it for a song. |
The botton is a black rayon crepe, and that wool (which is a dark purple gray). The rayon just needs to be washed. |
A turquoise corduroy and a cute flower broadcloth. |
A great light repro broadcloth I got for $1 a yard. |
These three are all linen. I think the olive one has a great 30s vibe. The middle one will make a great skirt and the palm trees are totally gonna be a dress for spring/summer. |
That's it. I made a good haul. I'm pretty happy about it, even though I spent a good chunk, but hey, it's still cheaper than buying clothes.
Love those linen prints! Which store were they at? :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great haul. I'm partial to the pretty flowered broadcloth myself. Have fun with them!
ReplyDeleteHey Beth, its the one right on the main corner where the $1 store is right before you cross to go to Michael Lavine. Fabric's Fabric at Maple and 9th (I know, very accurate name :) ). Its crowded but they have a very good selection of non polly fabrics. Tons of silks.
ReplyDeleteI am always so jealous of such nearby access to such a wide variety of quality fabrics. I'm several hours' drive from the nearest city with a fabric 'district' and so have to make do with what I find in town and (when i can afford it) online. please please never take this for granted. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat fabrics Shelley! And, glad your moving flat, as you'd been wanting to move places awhile now :) Hope the move goes smoothly!
ReplyDeleteThe apartment building looks really nice. And I. WANT. THAT. BROADCLOTH. I think I have the same purple gray wool you have though :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love Fabrics & Fabrics! I was planning a trip there on Saturday. I'll keep my eyes peeled for the prints, thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteThey are the linen stack in the back. I got $7/yd. Let me know what they charge you ;)
