Wow those Adaptolettes are something else! They must have been designed by an engineer - serious stuff, I'm impressed. I would imagine they would be uncomfortable to sit in though.
ReplyDeleteI do occaisionally do something similar funnily enough when I wear a pantie girdle over my 'everyday' shaper. The girdle has a strong wide elastic waistband that on its own produces a horrible 'muffin top', by wearing it over the shaper it tends not to do that. The shaper on its own isn't strong enough in the stomache area for special outfits though. I wonder if the 1930s/40s ladies wore those full girdles everyday?
The "Adaptolettes" -- I love it: sounds like a 50's doo-wop groups!
ReplyDeleteThose are some serious girdles! Looks like machinery or some sort of torture equipment. Some are kinda pretty though. The Willow the Wisp one from National Bellas Hess 1933 has an interesting shape and is something I would probably wear. And hey, it's only $1.98! Cool!
ReplyDeleteSome days, I really wish I could just take my current paycheck and pop back in time to these prices.
ReplyDeleteLord, have mercy! I'm glad we don't have to wear those things anymore! :)
