Now I'm done, honest.
I took the muslin slopers and traced them onto paper. I then added 1/4" of ease to the lower torso.
That was all the ease I felt I needed to add. I didn't want to alter the slopers too much.
After that, I then traced out the finals onto brown paper and labeled them accordingly. Now I'm excited. These are all ready to be used, and I think I have the next pattern I'm going to try them on.
On another note, I cut out the duvet and prepped the pieces.
I'm still stuck on Use Fabric You Already Have. I got as far as buttonholes, but I hate buttonholes with a passion so I've been dragging my feet.
ReplyDeleteIt will be better this time, though, because I interfaced the way I should always do but don't, and because I know I can do buttonholes when I'm not a complete brat about it.
Hi New Vintage Lady!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to weigh in with my Make+Mend list:
1. polka-dot sundress still needs to be hemmed and lining understitched
2. thrifted blue pencil skirt needs letting out in the rump region
3. thrifted floral grandma skirts need shortening by 24 cm each (I bought two) and the extra fabric will make cute complementary scarves to fling around my neck
4. RTW polka dot office dress has small tear in seam near armhole: needs stitching with white thread. But I see the seam allowance is only like 2/8ths of an inch wide! Darnit.
5. thrifted silk suit ($10!!) needs taking in in the skirt and shoulders. Probably by an expert seamstress, so will cost me a bit but less than if bought new. So Yay. :-)
Hi NVL~
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog about two weeks ago. I am so impressed with the 'Make and Mend' challenge. This is what I have created thus far...
1. 3 dresses (two of them from material and patterns that I already had in my stash!)
2. For the first time in 22 years of sewing, made a dress from a self drafted pattern again with material I had in my stash.
3. On the high from my successful self drafted dress pattern I drafted a pattern for some panties. They fit better than store bought.
4. Tap panties (not half as cute as yours). Mine are to wear under dresses so my thighs don't rub.
Thank you for all of the inspiration you provide on a daily basis.
Jana
FANTASTIC!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! :D
