I tell you, I'm just smitten with the Make and Mend culture of the 40s. I recently came across this booklet from 1943 published by the USDA. I have quite a few USDA war time booklets, but very few dedicated to men's clothing.

The guarding against wear sections are my favorite parts.
I like the chat about the knee and seat guards.
I love the info of repairing the pin stripes. That's so clever and I wonder if people actually did that.

ReplyDeleteMaybe they actually did that. During 40's they have some machines to mend mens suits, they also use manual mending which I totally awe.
