Taking a post brake from Man Month to show my new jeans. I based them from my 40s repro pattern and I'm finally happy with the fit. I slimed down the leg a bit because the original width of the cuff was monstrous. Even slimed down the width of the cuff is still 20" around!
The first pair I made are with the orange jean thread. They are my new kick around pants.
The red ones I used normal thread because I didn't have any top stitching thread so I did three rows of stitching.
Yay jeans!
Yay jeans indeed! They look fab. Classy and casual at the same time, just like the should be, in my opinion. :)
ReplyDeleteBe still my heart - have I ever mentioned how much I love topstitching? Love the X-stitch on the pocket!

Those are adorable! I much prefer buttons to side zippers and would like to convert some of my patterns that way. Could you maybe -- pretty please -- do a tute?
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone.
ReplyDeleteI love topstitching too but Im not that good at it. I always seem to run out of thread mid stitch, and with jeans, that can look pretty lame.
Those are the cutest jeans. Good job! Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteWow, those look great. Your topstitching is flawless. I'm making 40s jeans right now too and they don't look near as nice as that! Well done!
ReplyDeleteYour jeans are great! So very all-american and vintage-fabulous. Plus bonus points for converse. You're such a talented seamstress! :)
ReplyDeleteThese are great jeans...very classy looking.
ReplyDeleteI am loving these pants! Too cute!
