The only cigarette I'll ever smoke (candy).
Last night was a fun night at one of my favorite vintage places. A great band Jonathan Stout and the Campus 5. All the dancers come out for this band because the music is swinging. Even with all of that, it was a pretty slow night. A lot of people I regularly see were not there. Oh well, I still had a blast.
I got there early and I saw one table just open up. The couple had finished eating and simply left. With Cicada, if you have their pre-set three course meal which is $50 a person, it guarantees you the table for the night and since this couple left before the band even started, I usurped their abandoned table.
Turns out the table was needed, and I was not going to order any meal. The manager was very, very accommodating. He actually pulled a table out for me which I thought was amazing. I had a salad and a cocktail as a thanks for the professionalism.
My new table was right above the band so I had a great view of the night. There was even a tap dancing trio who preformed. Here was one of the troupe doing a solo.
The rest of the night was filled with good dancing and I even made some new friends. The outfit I wore was my 40s rayon dress which was a second try of my two-tone pattern. I altered it because the zip front was too long. I fixed that part, but now I think the dress is too large. I'm going to have to take in the bodice and put more gathers in the skirt because I don't want to cut up this vintage rayon any more than I need to.
I was really proud of my hair last night. It had some good waves, and I was able to put the snood on perfectly, and I even got to wear my handmade flowers for the first time!
The night was cool and I'm glad I was wearing this! It's from Land's End and it was on clearance. 100% cotton for $21!! Ladies, now you know what to get me for Christmas :)
It's a 2X which is a tad large, but once I dye this (come on, you all know me) I think it will fit much better. Yay 100% cotton!
I'll post progress of the dye job soon, well, once I do it.
Have a great Monday!
Yum, I love candy cigarettes :) Glad you had a good time!
ReplyDeleteWow, Jonathan Stout, the great things I heard about that band... I must say, you do wear a cigarette quite well. ;-)

ReplyDeleteIm thinking of dying the sweater a royal or denim blue. I need one. I wish I had enough of them to dye every color of my shoes :D
