1940s dress progress pt 2

Here is what I have so far. Ive been alternating my days. One day is drawing (which I sorely need to do more of) and one day is sewing.

Once I overlocked all the pieces, it was fairly easy to put together. Because I haven't made this dress before, a couple of things I took precaution on. One was the neckline.

There is no back collar on this dress and I wasn't exactly sure how it fit together up there. I also, having a facing compulsion, wanted to make sure I didn't have to take out some stitches in order for the back facing piece I created to lay properly.

Probably my only chance to ever use a purple zipper.

The next thing is the skirt. Mainly the back of the skirt.

I thought I adjusted the pieces enough to accommodate my butt, but I was wrong. I got a bit of fold over, which I *hate*. I swear, the women who modeled for these patterns had no ass. I am trying this on with no shaper, but I still don't like it. Its not enough dislike to open up the back and add two gussets along the enter panel (which I thought about) but simply angling of the curve of the back piece a bit steeper next time will be fine. I think that last sentence only made sense to me.

Overall the bodice fits great. I didn't even do too much alteration to it. The sleeves fit great from the mock up and Once this is all sewn up, I get to choose buttons, my favorite part.

I hope to finish it by tomorrow.
