Ive been bad. I made a rule for myself not to buy patterns below 40" in bust size.
I hate grading, and I generally have to do a few inches or so on every pattern. I'm a 48" bust, but my upper bust fits a vintage bust size 40-42" great! Hence me getting 40" bust patterns. But adjusting a 34 bust makes me want to pull my hair out!
For months Ive been really good about this rule and haven't purchased any patterns in the 30" range...until this week. BUT! To justify it, a lot of these patterns were never made in anything above a 38 bust. AND none of these patterns were over $12. So, its okay then! Yeah!
This Simplicity Ive seen around, and its so cute! Ive seen it priced sky high, and Ive seen it used to decorate a purse (ICK!). I felt it was in its best interest to save it. Plus this was fairly cheap for a 30s pattern.
As I look for a lovely draped neck pattern, this 30s number came up, and at half price, I could not resist!
Another turn of the decade pattern. Lookit that jacket with the sweater collar! Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
I love this pattern. I love the bodice and all the possibilities for stripes. I was hoping to wait out for a 38, but I got a 34 for under $2.
And I also picked up its Simplicity cousin.
I love your work, you are in my range, too, 40 bust. I love that checkerboard McCalls, you could take an existing bodice sloper and apply the lines to it. I will buy a 38, since it's close enough, but prefer a 39 since I am really a half-sizer. A 39 usually fits pretty well.
ReplyDeleteI totally support you on buying these. You definitely made the right decision.
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing, I'll fall in love and say well I'll just grade it up, then I never touch the pattern cause I can't be bothered to resize it. But every so often there is one which is worth the effort.
ReplyDeleteI covet the play suit pattern! It's my base size. :)
