Finished shots of the 'wearable mock up' of my knot dress. I am very pleased with the outcome of it.
Also I finished my alteration of my chambray dress. for the front of the dress, I decided to tack the basted zipper instead of stitch it to the front. The line is cleaner, and it's just as sturdy.
And the finished dress!
I really like the outcome of the re-work.
So, what is everyone else working on?
You look gorgeous in that blue dress!
ReplyDeletetwo really smashing dresses! I especially love the blue one, the gathering and cross-over details are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThat knot dress is a knockout. It looks contemporary for being a retro pattern. Guess good design lasts.
ReplyDeleteLovely dresses; very nice work!
ReplyDeleteThat little bit of stripe showing really makes that dress. Love it!
ReplyDeleteYou pickstitched the top portion of your zipper-- brilliant! I did this on the bodice portion of my daughter's wedding column dress and added seed pearl beads as I stitched. It really looked special.
ReplyDeleteAnd your piping workmanship is to perfection, girl! Thanks for the closeup!
I just want to tell you I think you look absolutely fabulous in your vintage clothing. I read a fair amount of vintage and or sewing blogs and all the ladies look really really lovely but somehow, I really believe you?!?!?! I don't really even get what I am trying to say but I just wanted to say it.
ReplyDeleteThose are both great, but that blue dress is a total knock-out!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteId have to say that blue dress has been my most difficult dress, ever. There are some small tweaks I'll do in the real version, but this one is totally wearable. I added gussets to the under arm so now its danceable too!
And thanks for noticing the details on the other dress. I am a complete sucker for piping, and if it's not done right, then it's not done at all :)
OMG I love the blue! It is so beautiful. You look so stunning!
ReplyDeleteReal version? This isn't the real version!
I love piping too and that dress is really nice. I like the color contrast a lot.
You look gorgeous in the knot dress!!! What beautiful fabric and fit.
ReplyDeleteI really like the rework of the chambray dress--the tan linen breaks up the grey and focuses attention to your lovely face :)
Wooh, that knot dress is stunning!!! I'm going to have to get that pattern.
ReplyDeleteThat knot dress is adorable! And you look fabulous in it!
ReplyDeleteThey both look amazing, of course. I like that piping on the chambray dress (I don't remember you starting that one).
ReplyDeleteI was poking through NVL and saw a gorgeous red velvet dress with black lace pleats that I somehow missed, but there are no photos of you in it, so alas, the shape is lost!
I've been trying to give my right arm a rest - it seized up funny after I made two pairs of pants in one day. That was probably a week ago and it still is touchy. However, I'm also trying to finish a 1970s Vogue mens shirt for my dad's birthday on the fourth. A little every day...
