Hey! Check out this write up of me on Blue Gardenia!
Although I feel the awesomeness of this broadcloth was expressed in my previous dress, I do feel that it's causal form is just as eye catching.

I love this fabric. I still can't believe I found this reproduction 40s fabric in the $1 pile in the LA fabric district. I bought so much (At 60" wide, can you blame me?) that I knew I'd have some leftover. I was thrilled to have plenty left for a blouse. A rather sporty blouse that I plan on wearing to a housewarming party this Saturday.
The green cotton sateen I got at a 'buy it by the pound' sale, so the piece I used cost pennies. PENNIES!!! That's what I like to hear. A 100% cotton shirt for pennies, literally! Oh happy day.
If I had been thinking a bit faster on my feet, I would have put a thin pipped seam between the green of the front and back yoke. THAT would have been adorable!
This would have been a day project had I planned my day better. I do believe this is the best version of this pattern I've done! I mean, I've made it so many times I can practically cut it out with my eyes closed! Because the fabric is so amazing, I'm just going to finish it off with some white cat eye buttons. Clean, polished, understated.
To finish off this cute outfit I'm finishing up another pair of clamdiggers. With the previous encounter where I bent my last denim needle on this Make and Mend, I had to wait for a new pack to arrive in the mail. The new needles came a couple of days ago, and all I have left to sew on the jeans are the waistband and button placket.
With these jeans I think I've done some of the best top stitching I've ever done but it's not as if you will see it. Stupid me decided to use dark navy top stitching thread on dark navy denim. Yeah, great choice. But they are shaped great, so I'll take comfort in that.
With my hair in a pomp and my navy Keds and some wild colored novelty socks I'll be all set for the party. Yay. I hope to get some dancing in :)
Have a great Friday everyone!
Looks great! I love the fabric, too.
ReplyDeleteThe shirt and the jeans look great. Happy Friday to you!
ReplyDeleteBoth of those look wonderful! I am a sucker for anything nautical, so I think that sailboat material is adorable. :]
