The Make & Mend 2011 giveaway!!

Happy Monday all!

Another week has begun (technically yesterday, but you know) and there is opportunity ahead of us. I hope everyone is doing great with their Make and Mend projects. I'm starting up a couple and I hope to do about 8 this week. Nothing too spectacular just some sleeves and skirts and such.

As motivation to you all you lovely people, I'm having a giveaway!

Its a button front 40s day dress in its factory fold! Best thing is it's a 40 bust. This lovely princess seamed frock even has it's original mailing envelope. W00T!

Here is what you need to do to qualify for the giveaway. I want to see one Make and Mend project, an alteration or repair of an existing garment presented in a before and after picture by midnight (my time) on June 11th. That's this Saturday, well Sunday morning, but you get the idea. The contest is open world wide. I'm happy to ship anywhere. You don't have to be a follower of my blog, though it would be nice :)

You can display your before and after pictures in one of two ways: either post a link to your blog in this post showing the before and after pictures, or you can post the images in the special thread I created in the flickr group. The winner will be chosen by a name in the hat selection. Remember, this does not have to be a major change, just a fitting issue or alteration that will make the garment that much more wearable.

Have fun and good luck!
I leave you with my absolute favorite skit from The Muppet Show.

I need to know- is finishing a long-standing UFO in the same category as Making Do? I've been inspired by your MDAM project, and so far I finished two big long-standing UFOs... If not, I guess I do have a huge pile of mending to attend to...

Sure, if you want to finish a project by week's end, just snap a photo of you in it now and one of you in it at the end :)

does a dress made for my niece from stash fabric from a vintage pattern in which I altered the collar count?

Shelleyj said...

If you have a before and after of the alteration, yes. If not, no.

All I have is the picture on the pattern envelope. It was originally a sailor dress, but my SIL doesn't like them, so I redrafted the collar so that it's no longer a sailor dress. Instead, it's a two-tone t-yoke button-front dress with a rounded collar, and by request of the three-year-old, a sash. I happened to have pink fabric with brown dots and brown fabric with pink dots in my stash, and among my quilting stash, some pink broadcloth and brown broadcloth for the collar and cuffs. And also a covered button kit. :D Oh yeah, and pink rick rack and brown rick rack left over from last year's sewing frenzy. Evie likes it, and her mommy's favorite color combo is pink and brown, so....

You altered an existing pattern for a new garment. That's not really what Im looking for for the giveaway. Ive clarified the terms more. Hope that helps.

:D Well, I did have something on-hand... the pictures at least, that I've been meaning to write up, anyway. Would this work?

That's perfect :)

I made a romper out of this ugly dress I made and never wore!

I am loving the Make & Mend challenge SO much. I've already done my re-purpose, and I have 5 things set aside that need to be finished or fixed. It's good to have goals!

Cool, Amy!
Be sure to post links of your projects in the flickr forum so we can all see :)

Hi New Vintage lady. I have posted my pics in the flickr group but I wasn't sure if I did it correctly so here's a link to my blog.
