The framing store called and my piece was ready for pickup!
I could not wait to get it home and hang it. The frame is custom made, and the matting is a shimmery linen. I love the look, though, it looks rather underwhelming in this picture :)
The plus is the framing turned out great, the bad side is that is was waaaaaay too expensive, so I won't be going back there for the rest of the things I need framed. I had this done at ArronBrothers only because it was the closest framing shop to me, but what they charged was nearly half of what it took to frame my poster size Anatomy of a murder film poster.
Sometimes you put up with stuff when you want what you want when you want it. But I love the way it looks and it's the perfect addition to my sewing area.
Speaking of sewing, I've decided to make this the weekend of pants.
Look at this.
All of my old jeans that I made are way too big. Now, before people start saying it's all the dancing, I don't think so. They were kinda big before I was dancing so much. They were especially large in the seat but now they make me look silly. At first I thought it was the 40s cut, but now I realize the legs are just too large.
So, I'm making new pants. I trimmed down the leg, waist and seat and the fit is a lot better. I'm also going the quick route and adding zippers up the side instead of buttons.
I still have to hem these, but I think they will be the new fit for me. Thoughts?
Me trying to be cool, or constipated I can't decide which.
Yay, I'm back to sewing! This weekend it's sewing, freelance, and possibly a bit of cleaning. I still have to finish up the bedroom. It's strange, some of my friends think I have too many jobs. I seem to think I don't work hard enough. I have my full time gig, freelance, my etsy store, sewing for other people, then for myself. I could do more, I'm sure of it.
How many jobs/hobbies do you all have?
Okay, I'm off to bed. I'll talk to you all tomorrow.
LOL, I think the picture of you in your new pants is like some I have taken of kids who "do not want their photo taken". Anyway, love the new fit! This weekend I have curtains and tunics to make for some customers, then I have material to make 2 pairs of pants and several tops over the next week of my spring break.
ReplyDeleteI have lots of jobs and hobbies - I am a full time teacher and guidance counselor and then I make garments and house hold decor for people in my local area and sell on etsy, then I just love to sew and crochet for myself (and I haven't ever sold my crochet since it is still an up and coming hobby for me). I love photography and getting people involved in social activities. Life can be fun! Why waste time on something that doesn't fulfill your passion?
I think you should do whatever makes you happy! I've had lots of 'jobs' at times, right now, not so many, both were right for me at the time.
ReplyDeleteLove the new pants.
I love everything you make lol. I am a student and a bookkeeper for a store. I also sell vintage clothes online & ebay stuff, just as a hobby I suppose. I like to be busy :)
ReplyDeleteWhatever makes you happy. That is important. I'm rushing off to that post about making a tailored jacket in a week, sorry
ReplyDeleteWhich is the job and which is the hobby these days? The pattern making is the one that brings in the dough, the knitting makes the new friends, the sewing is almost all alterations that never pay what they should (but are mostly for love of the challenge). I would sew for money more if my customers had jobs. Meanwhile, I am altering most of my pants so they fit better. My pants advice is almost always: peg 'em. Yes, I am just that short.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are delightful :)
ReplyDeleteI love your beautiful illustrations and sewing! What a talent you have! ~ Matti
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteI have a full time job, sometimes freelance. I also study jiu jitsu and stick and knife. I always feel really overwhelmed and busy!
ReplyDeleteHa! Well, I work full-time, I have a toddler (not a hobby, of course--she is the top priority in my life) and I draw and I blog... oh, and sew! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your pants. Hurrah for beautifully fitting--yet still wide-legged--pants.
whenever people ask me how I get so much done, I tell them that I never watch television, unless its on because I'm doing something like knitting. No regular shows, no cable, more time. have just a part time job, two kids, i sew, knit, quilt, and garden. And clean and cook, but thats just to keep the other stuff going.
ReplyDeleteWoolywoman, I don't watch tv either. I catch a few shows and movies online and that's it. I haven't had a tv for 6 years.
