Happy Monday one and all.
I tell you, the weekend isn't long enough. Just when I get through with all the stuff I didn't have time to do during the week, Sunday evening us upon me.
Don't you hate that?
I did manage to get some stuff done, though.
On Saturday completely cleaned house. Mopped the bathroom and kitchen floors, and set up the final touches of my drawing area.
I also went to a little vintage sale at the Egyptian Theater in the heart of Hollywood.
It was nice, but small and it seemed like most of the wares there were just the seconds of people's personal collections. I hope if it is done again that more stuff will be there.
Also, the basement of my apartment flooded! Along with it, my storage locker! It was not until Sunday that I could get down there and access the likely damage. Luckily not much was damaged. I put a shelf in the locker at move in and it was high enough that the boxes on the lowest shelf didn't get hurt.
I did loose one box. It was a box that my mind kept nagging me not to put down there. A flat of some of my art. This is proof to listen to your inner voice, especially when it tells you to get off your lazy butt and put a bag under that paper box. Oh, if I had only listened!
With a lot of the paper I just cut off the damage. |
The good news is, I only lost one piece, something I did a loooooog time ago. Something I would have never shown anyone ever again anyway. The bad news is that one of my friend's prints got water damaged. The rest of the loss was paper. Sad to loose it, but a minor concession.
With the iPod box, I lucked out. I had some collectables in it (iPod boxes included) and I was worried that I lost all the contents. The box was stored on it's side and for some reason, the side that got wet was the side that had a layer of stuffed animals on it! They got soaked, so I tossed them in the wash, but the paper boxes are just fine! Super lucky!
I tell you, picking through that was not how I wanted to spend a few hours of my Sunday. Some small things that got a bit too moist are drying out on my newly cleaned bedroom floor. Drat, just when that place was bare, I go and fill it up with more stuff!!
So with the rest of the afternoon, I decided to do some sewing. I took some new t-shirts that I got and altered their neck lines. I was also able to do a side project for a costume and completed about 80% of a pair of pants for me.
I ran some errands outside the house, and I also managed to finish Onda.
Here she is with the fabric draped of her bottom.
Here she is completed.
I stitched the fabric around and down the middle back and I used thumb tacks around the base. I've had those thumb tacks for a good 7 years. They would just show up randomly in my stuff and I never quite knew where to store them. I'd toss them in a box or in some junk drawer, but could never loose them. Now they have a purpose.
I still have to buy some more to finish it, but all in all I really like the look.

I even tried her new figure out on some soon to be easy store additions.
I think this is the last embellish I'm gonna do to Onda. She turned out great and I can't wait to use her for floor length dresses.
So that was my weekend. Gone too soon, I tell you. I still have some things to do. One being make the chocolate chip cookies I've been trying to make for two weeks now!
Oh well.
Oh well.
On that note I leave you with Wonder Woman glasses, because everyone needs an ample supply of comic heroine screen printed glassware in their possession.
How was your weekend!?
Ah Wonder Woman, my favorite. And Onda is looking very cool.
ReplyDeleteOnda looks awesome! I so need to give Matilda a makeover... I removed her preggo belly and started adjusting her but she's been neglected ever since.
