Royalchrome restoration pt3

Good morning everyone. I hope your weekend was nice. Mine was. I finally had my housewarming and I considered it a big success! It was my first party ever and I had a big turnout. More on that tomorrow.

That's why I was MIA last week. I was preparing for the party, that, and I went out dancing 4 nights in a row. Um, yeah....that does not leave much time for blogging.

But now that my party is over, and I'm settled, as in I've put everything away, I'm ready to tell you all about my Royarlchrome progress.

Okay, last Thursday I left work an hour early and traveled to downtown LA (in rush hour) to get the eight cushions I ordered for my two Royalchrome couches.

Wow, I prepped to make this post two hours ago and here I am finally getting to it! That's what happens when you are cleaning up after a party (more on that tomorrow). This Sunday I have great fashions from Lane Bryant.

I recently got a juicer, so I've been putting any and every veggie in it!

My house warming is coming up at the end of the month, so I've been getting some of the smaller things a home needs to make it just right.

This Sunday I have images from a late 20's color/styling sewing book from Indian Head Fabrics, Sew So. Choose your color pallets wisely, ladies.

New Pattern Day Yay!!!

I have a new repro just in time for the season. 

A lovely mid 30s day dress with a half apron!

I'm calling this The Springtime Dress.

This dress is a 44 bust and has two sleeve options for the bodice, a puff sleeve with a decorative sew on, and a drop shoulder sleeve. The bodice also has two neckline treatments. The skirt has two front pleats and optional pockets. I picked this design to repro because it has so many options. As you all know, I'm always on the look out for patterns that give tons of value, and I think this one does. 

I'm going to make this one up myself for summer!

A mysterious mail order catalog from the middle of 1939.

The 'I'm back!' Giveaway.

 This weekend it's just me at home chilling out, shopping on line (don't we all), and sewing. Mostly sewing. I haven't had a huge chunk of time set aside just to sew in a while. I've spent it out having fun, learning to dance, and working. Don't get me wrong, I love it all, but my clothes are in need of some serious attention. Especially now that it's getting warmer, I need blouses, and I need to take in a few of the blouses I have. Also sew blouses for others. This having a life thing is getting in the way of sewing!

To energize my sewing momentum, and also the sewing momentum of others (I know you all have been slacking), and what I fell is, a lack of posting, I've decided to offer up an, "I'm back" giveaway.

Brasco likes the new cotton rug in the bathroom.

Things are going pretty well for me. At work, the company just hired two more people to assist me with the work I'm doing (I have underlings!). I've been getting tons of deliveries of produce (I have a CSA) and am eating better. I have a juicer coming soon (yay) so I can start juicing my way to happiness.

Art Deco Miracle Mile Walking Tour

A couple of weeks ago a friend invited me to a walking tour presented by the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles. The subject of the tour was the Miracle Mile, a section of Wilshire Blvd. that in it's day was the destination shopping, business, and residential mecca.

 Our guide, Eric Lynxwiler, held up before images of many of the areas on the mile.
He also wrote a book on it.
