Happy Independence Day Weekend everyone!
Hope the heat isn't getting to ya. Me, I'm planning on staying inside all day and perhaps using my AC for the first time this summer.
I also want to make some good progress on my burlap bag today. I cut it out yesterday, and I think I choose some cool looking compositions from the sack. What I'm pondering is the reinforcement of the burlap. The weave is very loose, that's because the bag is for coffee, so I need to add some backing to the burlap.
I have some clear thread that I'm going to use to stitch a cotton fabric to the back to hold it all in place. I hope it does not show too much,, and I don't think it will. Even if it does it's not that big a deal. After all, I am making this thing by the seat of my pants.
Another thing I've decided to do is to postpone my drafting. I found more items I want to mend, and I'd rather spend the rest of the MnM time doing that. I'll do some drafting later this July because I do want to make a nice summer shirt.
I've noticed some tapering off on activity these past few weeks. I hope people haven't given up. I'm sure you all still have lots of things remaining to mend. I know I do!
Have a great day!
Not giving up, just crazy busy!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing this bag finished, the typeface and the green colour on the bag are really striking.
ReplyDeleteGot a mad busy night of mending ahead of me.. so I guess I better stop reading all these wonderful sewing blogs and get back to it then!
