Oh, I have been bad this past month. Ohh!
This above Du Barry I am so sweet on. I find it terribly difficult to find Du Barrys from the 1940s with any interesting bits.
I also added some antique patterns to my collection. They are not in the best shape, but they will be great for my Steampunk costumes.
As I was counting pieces I found this receipt in the above skirt pattern.
1918, baby!
This pattern I think was the best get, the cheapest, and I think now one of the most rare in my collection. It's a bathing suit! The size is gone from the envelope, but measuring the pieces, I think it's a 40 bust! Squeee!!!!! I'm super excited about it!
*Whew* I told you, I was baaaaaad this past month.
But being bad never felt so good.
Great finds! Can't wait to see how you sew that first pattern. It's so pretty.
ReplyDeleteWow, they are so stylish. I'd ask why they don't make dresses like that anymore but I sure couldn't wear them, all willowy and flowing, and neither could most of my friends so maybe that's why!
ReplyDeleteNice score! Some beautiful dress patterns, I also can't wait to see what they will become.
ReplyDeleteI love the first pattern, especially the green short sleeved version :) And patterns from 1919, that's amazing! The first bathing suit would make a fun dress.
ReplyDeleteI was trying to read the receipt:looks like sateen, snap, belting, ???? Everything for a skirt it sounds like.
Ahh...I was bad this month too but bought many beautiful out of print retro vogue dresses in my size! I have never been so happy and sheepish at the same time. However, I am now on 'ebay probation' with my better half. Alas I saw this item (360379724343) and cannot bid on it myself but then I thought of you. Ohh the scallops and in your time period too - Bless the full button shirtwaist. The price is high but you can make a reasonable offer. If you like it and can get it at a decent price, please sew it up and show it off!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Leanne
