Don't tell anyone, but I'm wearing pink breeches.

This weekend was a big sewing weekend for me. Why, I have no idea, but I finished up two projects that had been in the cue for a few weeks.

First off, my breeches. Strike #2 down out of 5.  These went together with no problems, as did the first pair. Only, once I was finished with these, and I saw it was just 11 am I though, "Do I have any dye left?"

Looking back I realize that because this was poplin, the dye would have taken better had I boiled it instead of just hot tap water in the sink. Still, I did use a scarlet dye, only diluted, and I do like how pink they are. So pink and ruffly. So girl.

If I made a brown pair, I'd have Neapolitan underwear ;)

I tried them on and man, are they comfy! The elastic around legs is just the right tension and they move and breath with me, yay! So these are turning out to fill just the gap that I'm hoping they will. I even found some light cotton that I think I can get two more pair from. Yay!

Onto my other weekend project.

I finally managed to put together my burlap bag. I squared the bottom and tacked that flap to the inside of the bag or extra stability. 

I even pressed open the center seam allowance and wonder undered it down. That helps the bag keep its shape a lot. I added the handles and the lining and presto!

I can say the burlap bag is complete. I know, you are looking thinking, "Hey, those are not bamboo handles!" Yes, I'm safe to say you are right. 

Would you believe me if I told you I had a brain fart when it came time to put on the handles and I looked in my box of trims for something to 'use', all the while the bamboo handles were sitting right in front of me on my sewing table?

To add to the stupid, for like ten minutes I was looking at the inside markings I made for the handles thinking, "What are these for?" Yeah, I know. I'll blame it on the heat.

The straps I did use I planned on making a leash and collar for my doggie Georgia. That should tell you how long I've had this trim. But I felt it was too mannish for my girl, so I just stowed it away.

I think it works very well on this tote, though, and I'm glad I used it instead of the bamboo handles because I think I'll get much more use out of it.

My first test run with the bag will be this evening when I wear it to my dance class. If it wears well, I may make a few more. I have more than enough burlap leftover.
