Yes, this is a picture of my front, LOL!
I'm rather proud of the elastic legs. That's the first time I've done that and they all turned out real well. Just two plain buttons for the waist closure and presto.
I made two of poplin, one of which I dyed, two in a light flower print, and one in cotton seersucker. I think that one was a bit spicy. Recognize that print?
Yup! I actually made them for this dress. I plan on wearing it to a dance this Sunday. Hee Hee Hee.
I also dyed the red pair of shoes. This dye preformed much differently than the blue did. I should have expected that, red is typically more transparent than blue. On a scale of 1-10, with the blue shoes being about a 9.5, these are a solid 8.
Still, even after 6 coats, I have this much dye left! I used double the dye on these than I did on the blue shoes, so that should tell you how far my $7 (each color) for this dye has gone.
I coated them at least 6 times and there are still streaks. I mean they are totally wearable, but I was hoping for a solid even tone. No biggie, twenty dollar shoes after all.
I may start on the brown ones today. Just to get all this dying over with. Maybe...
What are your plans for the weekend? Just one more day!
I'm gonna do what Mr. Turner says :)
they look so comfy. I need a pair or two.
ReplyDeleteI am such a modern girl, but your cute clothes (knickers and all) and the fab videos you post do tell me I was born in the wrong time!
ReplyDeletethese are my PERFECT shoes, I envy thee :) t-strap and a low, comfortable heel. where did you get them, please?
ReplyDeleteCould you have used the dye in an airbrush for a smoother finish?
ReplyDeleteThanks all.
ReplyDeleteI talk about where I got the shoes in this post.

As for airbrushing, I don't think I'd trust this dye in a gun (not that I have one). It basically becomes a sheet of plastic after a while. The dye did come with a sponge, which I use as the final coats.
I just think thats the composition of red. No matter what type of red Im using (whether its painting in oil, watercolor, acrylic) red pigment is just a tough one.
Yay! I'm wearing my own bloomers right now, only I usually sport them as pajamas. They're floral :)
ReplyDeleteI like that you matched it to your dress! That's old school vintage.
I saw two old girdle patterns in a thrift store! They are pretty tiny, though, so they wouldn't do me any good.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe you dyed your shoes! They look brand new and great! I remember back in the 60's, you could buy every color of shoe dye -- they'd advertise it in fashion magazines, and they also sold a product that you could spray on shoes and purses to make a reptile pattern like snake, lizard or aligator! I never used any of it, though.
