Good morning lovely people. Virginia says hi on top of a mound of freshly laundered bed sheets.
This weekend I did a bit of sewing for myself in-between a couple other projects.
Remember that bag I have in my Etsy store? Well I made one that suited my needs from the same fabric.
That little square deal is a velcro loop to hold both straps together on my shoulder so one doesn't fall down. I hate it when that happens.
I monogramed it, of course!
Both inside pockets have a pen sleeve on the pocket because I am always losing pens in the bottom of my bags. I didn't add a water bottle pouch on this bag like I did my last messenger bag. I wanna see how well this new bag works with my lifestyle now, so I may adapt it, but I like the simplicity of this new bag. I also like the stiffness. My old bag was a lump of jello when I set it down. It was annoying.
The next thing I made myself was underwear!
I'd been wanting to take a shot at making my own underwear for a while but never just did it.
I didn't want anything fancy, so I just made some briefs of a cotton polly one stretch blend. I based these off the raggedy undies I have in my drawer that I really, REALLY needed to replace.
Ladies, we have all been there.
Though these have a rather utilitarian look to them, I wanted to girl them up with a bit of lace and color. Each pair is sewn with a colored thread and finished with a matching lace accent.
Simple, utterly machine washable, and ready to go. That's just what I wanted.
That's it for my own personal sewing. I've had a lot of projects in the fire lately but these two little things I really needed to do. So glad I did them.
Okay lovely people. Hope you have a great week!
Love the undies with just a little bit of color. I've looked at a number of panties patterns but they seem like too much bother. Yours look quite straight forward. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I have been meaning to get new underwear to replace my sagging, ragged old ones for ages but I can never find the style I want in the size I need. I want plain briefs, why are there dozens of style options but briefs can be so hard to find? Hadn't really thought of making my own, and those look perfect--so comfortable.
ReplyDeleteI had a purchased bag that I hated EXCEPT for the bottle holder pocket, a pocket I have yet to integrate into another bag properly (it was inside the bag, under one end of the strap). As it stands, I seem to be more prone to adding pockets that add a coffee go-mug into my coats. No one has ever looked in my coat for a stealth coffee smuggled into a movie. Not yet anyway.
ReplyDeleteThose are lovely undies.
Love the undies! I just bought a ton of panties a few weeks ago and several of them are already coming apart from the elastic after just one wearing and washing. I need to follow your example and stitch up some that will be comfy and last!
