Brain took over the bed, as usual, so I had to get up and do stuff.

I hope you all have been well. I'm doing okay. Still busy getting work. I'm wiring on a potential freelance job that could be long term, so with me luck on that.

July Showcase

Hello lovely people.

Squeee! I have a showcase this month!

I haven't done one in a while because times they are tight, but these past few weeks I was able to pick up a few goodies for myself and I'm quite happy for my choices.

First some patterns I acquired.

In fact, I have it down to a science and can make this dress from cut out to hem in 7 hours. Yeah baby!

July Goodies Showcase!

And now I get to share some of the goodies I acquired last month. 

I know that I didn't post a June Pattern Showcase, and right now, quite frankly, I forget what I bought in June! I actually don't think I got many, if any patterns that month. I've been on a kick of getting goodies for the apartment. And yes, I'm still waiting to hear back on my couch.

I'm back!

Well lookie here, I'm blogging again!

I wish I could say that I took a 'brake' of some sort, but life just kept going. I for one wanted to zip lock myself and just hide out in the freezer for a month suspended in time so I could collect my thoughts and pause for a bit. I've wanted to do that for a while, but alas, the foreverware version of Eerie Indiana isn't real, yet...

Etsy Update!!!

It's Saturday and that's shopping time.

Just letting everyone know that I'm purging my closet some more and listing a lot of everyday rough and tumble blouses in my store. The kicker...They all are $25-$45!!!

  

I've worn these kicking around the house, going to dance class, or just a top a t-shirt for some color. The patterns these are made from are from one of my 30s repros and a 40s blouse pattern I have. All are finished with vintage buttons.

They have a lot of life left in them and I'm sure will go to a great home. 

I'm listing about 10 total so check all this coming week.

A new blouse is finished!

Gooooooood morning one and all. 

Isn't it great to be busy? I love it. It makes me feel kind of important and even thought I have tons to do, in those brakes of chaos, I try to find something that I can do in order to fill the few hours.

Making clothes for myself lately has been the 'fill in' time. Normally, I can dedicate sewing to its own day. I do miss that, but I'm having so much fun lately, and I'm looking like a hobo in my oversized clothes, that I really needed to find, or rather make the time to get my behind some new clothes.

It has not been easy, but actually, eating better helps. I'm not always tired after work, and I can cram in a couple hours of sewing before dance class, or whatever else I need to do.

So the 30's blouse I was starting on a little while ago has been all fitted and ready to go. It just screams two tone, though, I want to do one solid with cool piping.

I recently got a juicer, so I've been putting any and every veggie in it!

March Pattern Showcase!

The sewing space takes shape.

Good morning and wonderful Wednesday, everyone!

As you can see, my sewing area is coming along. I plan to get back to making clothes this weekend. I have a skirt pattern I want to knock out. All my skirts (and blouses ) are getting too big, and I need some quick fillers. Seeing as I have nothing planned for this weekend (yet), I think that's the best time to get started!

The Plain Pattern Project recap

Happy New Year everyone!

With the benchmark of a new year I feel a bit ashamed at asking, what happened!?

The Plain Pattern Project kind of teetered off the far end for mostly everyone. I get it, we all get busy, but I tried my darndest to keep it going and finished my three dresses. Did anyone finish?

Perhaps I was not the best hostess for the project. I did try to encourage as much as I could. Even hosted two giveaways? Is there anything else I could have done, or was I just a victim to the tide of people with busy lives? I think the ladder.

Well, it's water under there bridge.
With the positive view of the philosophy of the PPP, I think it can be an ongoing sewing tenant. Take a look at those plain patterns every once and a while. Appreciate them and study the craftsmanship of them. I can't tell you how much I learned from this exercise.

I've got one word for you...Chartreuse!

Yes, no, maybe, ick?

I got to dyeing again and picked up a pack of chartreuse iDye. I'm sold on this stuff. It dyes so well, no streaking and it washes very well. I still have some RIT, so if I decide not to keep this color, I'm going to use the kelley green I have to tone it down.

I remember flipping through one of my early 30s catalogs and seeing something I thought was the most practical thing this side of the Mississippi.

Men's Underpants conclusion

The home stretch. Or the belt stretch. That's what I had left to do on these undies.

Using my last pair as reference, I took note and notched the back of the strap piece that attaches to the back waist band. The waist band is in two pieces, and there is an adjustable belt build into the back. Quite ingenious, actually. A lot of vintage men's clothing has little treats like that. Side adjusters on slacks that are worn with braces (suspenders) and such.

Do all men smoke on button cards?

I don't know what it is about button cards for men, but I've found a startling number of them where the fella is smoking. So many so, that now I have quite the collection. I'm obsessed! There are still about two or three that I know of floating around out there that I have yet to get. But rest assured, they will be mine some day.

Blouses are done!

Happy Thursday everyone!

Just dropping in to say that I FINALLY put the buttons on my two latest blouses. For some reason I decided to finish the cuffs with snap fasteners. I think it worked well and I didn't have to do button holes.

For some reason the lazy of machine sewing overtook my non-lazy feeling of hand sewing... go figure.
