This was my current project. The Thing from Another World.
James Arness played the 'Thing'. He was a big man, about 6' 7".
The scene for this statue was Thing, after he had been burned, holding a wood plank in a riot of destruction.
TO PEOPLE TRYING TO BOGART BY WORK, DO YOUR OWN FUCKING RESEARCH!!
I had to take the images and create an entire jumpsuit purely from scratch. The material I was given is a nice dark gray twill. But first came the mock up.
From there I made the costume. I can't get too into the details, trade secrets and all,
but here are tons of pictures.
His costume will be distressed and some other details will be added to this prototype, and if you are lucky, you'll see him at a comic convention as a pre-order and you can have one of your own :)
I gotta say, I'm loving these monsters. So much fun!
Have a great day, everyone!!
Wow! I'm so impressed! That looks terrific (and terrifying!).
ReplyDeleteAw that is a great movie and a great jumpsuit! If anyone's seen John Carpenter's The Thing (1982) or The Thing (2011) this movie Thing From Another World (1951) was the first version of the short story. The 1951 movie definitely holds its own as a winter sci-fi thriller. Good stuff!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love me a great jumpsuit. Very space-man complete with doublet front. Such a dapper monster.
