Hello lovely people.
Brian and Brandy after being out in the sun too long.
We're in the car because walking got to be too much.
Not much sewing going on this week, it's been too hot to do much of anything here in Los Angeles. Brian and I have been lazy son of a guns, just loafing around at home and being committed to minimal movement. That and we're broke :)
I've been working on the dress I cut out, casually. Playing with rick-rack on the skirt like I did on the sleeves.
I also added a erin of rick-rack on the inside of the wrap so it covers the top stitching.
I'm in a dilemma now. I haven't decided if I'm going to make the tulip sleeves face the front or back.
If I make the design face the back, I'm going to mimic it across the upper back of bodice with the rick-rack. Your input on this decision would be appreciated.
That's it for me today so I'll see you all next week!
How interesting s the front design? I love the look of forward facing tulip sleeves, but continuing the design on the back would look so elegant and lovely. I'd be torn too! From whats on here, Id say go with the front.
ReplyDeleteIs that puppy going to get as big as Brian? So cute! I think the sleeves look right the way they are now. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished.
ReplyDeleteIs it going to be one of your wrap dresses? Then I can see why you'd put the rickrack going across only on the back, if the sleeves faced that way. I like that idea. So often, clothing is made with all the details on the front, and completely plain on the back. (It would probably also make it look more broad-shouldered from the back -- I don't know if you want that or not.)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the input all!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing on the front, as its another wrap redress that I can't seem to stop making! Its got a v neck wrap front and I think that's all the detail needed on the front.
The thought of making it look boxy in the back is one I considered, too. I already have a boxy back, so I guess Ill just live with it if it make me look even more boxy :)
Keep those opinions coming!
There are plenty of front facing versions online, and a couple in my closet. I like how they open (I'm a working gal who lifts a lot of stuff during the day, don't like any binding on the ladyarms). Still....a design feature that sails into the wind.....off to stare at pictures. Sloooow day at work.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely put the tulip to the back. I have now been unemployed for five months. Save teaching sewing and odd work, life is hard. I am thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks for thinking of me! :)
